A Message from Leigh

Throughout my many years of teaching, and especially these last three years since starting the Ankrum Institute, I have had the joy and the privilege of seeing a powerful new paradigm in bodywork begin to move out into the world. This is the paradigm I was taught and have expanded and developed in three decades of private practice and trainings around the world, constantly learning and deepening in the work.

With every person who decides to start on this path, the potential for greater health in this world grows and grows. That’s a mission I’m proud to offer to you as we begin a new 500-hour training here in Tulsa in 2020.

The Ankrum Institute program consists of 14 modules of in-depth, comprehensive study and practice in every system of the body. Fascial. Craniosacral. Musculoskeletal. Visceral. Embryological. And more. We look for the ways in which these systems are interconnected, seeking out the core issues that are really driving people’s pain patterns and dysfunctions, as well as the many issues that often exist as a result of that main one.

Most of all, we learn to listen to the intelligence of the body, rather than operating by formulas and pre-set treatment plans. This is a bigger, deeper, more true-to-life perspective that really makes the difference in what can happen for clients in the treatment room.

The learning here at Ankrum Institute is rich, often surprising, rigorous, and — this is important — really fun. As part of a training cohort and a community of practicing alumni, you will be supported every step of the way. In addition to the encouragement of your teachers and classmates, you’ll have access to your own private Facebook group, videos of class lectures and demonstrations, treatment manuals, supervised practice sessions, a free AMTA membership, CEUs, and many other benefits. And the class schedule — four days of training every other month — means you don’t have to choose between your professional development and your life.

This work is not for everyone. But it might be for you. Are you willing to be challenged, to let go of assumptions and limitations, to face yourself? Are you open to your life changing? That’s what seems to happen in this program. After all, when we are in the treatment room, we are working in partnership between client and therapist, as we listen to the intelligence of the body together. There are sacred mysteries here, and we meet them together. When we are open to our own possibilities, we can allow that space for the client as well.

I invite you to join us in 2020 for this opportunity to be part of a paradigm shift in bodywork training — and, I believe, in the world. There’s just nothing like this training anywhere else.

Sign up here on our website, or feel free to contact us with questions about the program. And please consider forwarding this to anyone you think might be interested in learning more.

I hope to see you soon and welcome you to this journey.
